A device in the context of Service-oriented architectures (that is, in the context of Information Technology (IT) and Automation / Operations Technology (OT)) is an technical artefact that fulfills the basic definition of a "computer". That is, a device must be able to host (run) software systems. For this, it needs at least a processing unit (processor), a memory and a communication interface, which can be either wired or wireless.
